Hans Coper | 'Cycladic' Winged Bud Form, circa 1976

Stoneware, layers of vitreous white porcelain slip over iron and manganese with lightly textured surface, the interior with a rich manganese glaze, raised on a manganese cuboid base, impressed HC seal

H 24cm, W 9.5cm, D 10.5cm

PROVENANCE: Coper Family Collection

CONDITION: Perfect condition with no damage or restoration. These Cycladic forms are made and fired in two parts and when examined under a black light there is some visible evidence of where the two individual parts have then been joined post firing. This area shows as black colouring at the base of the white form when viewed with the naked eye. This work has been exclusively in the family collection since creation and they have confirmed that the piece has never been damaged or restored so this join is entirely intrinsic to the piece as intended by the artist.
