Shinya Yamamura

(Japanese b.1960)

Shinya Yamamura is a professor of lacquer arts at Kanazawa College of Art, where he originally studied design. 

He is a master of traditional lacquer, and his works are characterised by incorporating other materials such as mother of pearl and metal powders, as well as precise and intricate geometric designs.

His works are held in major collections in both Japan and the UK, including at the V&A, London.
