Kazumi Nagano

(Japanese b.1946)

Kazumi Nagano originally studied traditional Japanese painting techniques in Tokyo before going on to study jewellery.

Her process involves using a hand loom to weave paper thread and then hand-folding her pieces into three dimensional origami jewellery. She applies natural dyes for colour.

She won the ‘Fine Works Prize’ in Tokyo in 2002, and her works are held in public collections in the UK, Italy and Switzerland. Her work was included in the 2015 exhibition 'Not Too Precious' at Ruthin Craft Centre.
