Erna Aaltonen started working in ceramics in 1981, and her works explore her fascination with surface and colour, predominantly hand-building vessels in spherical forms with irregular surface textures using layered oxides and engobes. She lives and works just outside of Helsinki in Fiskars, a small village which has become a hub for artists, designers and creators.
