George Walker

(British b.1930)

George Walker first studied painting and graphic design at Harrow School of Art (now the University of Westminster), later turning to ceramics as his preferred medium. He is best known for his hand-built teapots made up of intertwined human figures to create the forms of the vessel, and decorated in his distinctive colour palette with vitreous slips. He uses caricatures in these ceramic sculptures to satirise and comment on contemporary society.
